We are the Manic Mechanics, a new Livingston, New Jersey-based Moonbots team. We have three members: two 11 year old friends, Emily and Ilana, and Emily's 15 year old brother Ben. Ben is no stranger to robotics; he is an FLL alumnus and currently a member of the Livingston Lancer FTC Robotics team. Ilana and Emily plan to compete in FLL for the first time this September with some of their friends, in a new team that will be mentored by the Livingston Lancers. Since Emily and Ilana will be home this summer, they decided that it would be a great time to practice their robotics skills before the FLL season began. And what better way than to participate in the Moonbots challenge! Ben has always been interested in robotics and space exploration, even being a member of his middle school Astronaut club. Emily and Ilana are both enthusiastic science students, and are excited about learning more about the history of space exploration, and Lego robotics. What a great way to spend a summer break!
