We are goofy, smart, playful, and we LOVE science. All of us belong to KICS - Kids Inspiring Communities, founded by team member Mikie Bowman. We do a lot of outreach and help run robotics camps. We want to get as many kids as we can excited about science and technology -- just like us! We are X-Treme!
Cool Fact: Last year we received US Congressional Certificates of Special Recognition for our outreach and inspiration in the community. So far we have impacted over 560 other students and raised over $2,400 to help form new robotics teams.
X-Treme Team is comprised of 5th grade students from the Coachella Valley, located in the south west region of the Mojave Desert. A few are 2-year veteran FLL team members having completed the Smart Move and Body Forward Seasons.
There are some sponsors that have been helping us along the way in Phase 2 that we would like to give a shout out to:
SMaRT Education - for providing the facility and 501(c)(3) number needed to get donations for our team and projects
Connect a Million Minds, an intiative of Time Warner Cable, for dontating the money needed for the extra robotics components
SolidWorks - for providing 10 licenses of thier software for use during both the MoonBots Challenge and our 2011 FLL Food Factor Season
SolidProfessor- for providing 6 seats in their online training so we can learn how to use SolidWorks
Home Depot - for giving us the hard styrofoam we needed for our competition board and space panels
Best Buy - for donating a Rocketfish webcam so that we can do our Live Mission Webcast
and last but not least evadot.com for hosting our web interview with Tim Pickens from our favorite Google Lunar X PRIZE team, The Rocket City Space Pioneers! We also want to give a shout out to Brett McLaughlin for the rockin' artwork for our shirts. We came up with the concept but he made it come alive (yes, that is an NXT rockin' out with an electrical guitar).
